Percentage Calculator
Find a percentage of a number, compare values as a percent, calculate percent change or reduction, time and mass percentages, and on-base percentage.
Formula
Percentage of value: (p ÷ 100) × value. What percent: (part ÷ whole) × 100. OBP: (H + BB + HBP) ÷ (AB + BB + HBP + SF).
Assumptions
- Inputs are real numbers within standard floating-point limits.
- Mass percentage requires both masses in the same unit.
- Time percentage requires both durations in the same unit.
Limitations
- Percent change and reduction are undefined when the original value is zero.
- OBP uses standard MLB plate-appearance definitions.
Worked example
15% of 240
Enter 15 as the percentage and 240 as the value. The result is 36 because (15 ÷ 100) × 240 = 36.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find what percent one number is of another?
Divide the part by the whole, then multiply by 100. For example, 25 of 200 is (25 ÷ 200) × 100 = 12.5%.
What is on-base percentage?
OBP measures how often a batter reaches base: (Hits + Walks + Hit by Pitch) ÷ (At Bats + Walks + Hit by Pitch + Sacrifice Flies).
